I found a 52 weeks of gratitude challenge a while ago, which led me to evaluate how grateful I was on a day-to-day basis of things that enrich my life. Typically, I always tend to remember moments – big or small – and while I am generally grateful for all that I get to do or experience, I have never documented this in a journal or on a blog before. I did think of starting a happiness jar (write down the things that made you happy on little pieces of paper and put them in a jar), but living with a pair of bratty cats makes it impossible to leave any jars around. If it’s on a table, it will be knocked over because you know… cats have the Very Important Task™ of making sure gravity works at all times. 😀
So, in order to track the huge and the littlest things and everything in between, I am starting this 52 Weeks of Gratitude journal of sorts (which I may or may not actually follow through all the way but hey it’s a start!), that will just be a weekly roundup of the things that I am happy to have in my life.
In Week #1 of the brand new year, I am grateful for:
- The friendships I have in my life – I spent new years with friends I made at my first job, I had a lovely albeit face-freezing dinner in NYC with a new friend I made last year, and I just spent the evening catching up with old college friends. I am glad that some of us have been friends for over a decade of ups and downs and moving aways and drifting aways, also that against all odds I still have the ability to trust in new friendships.
- Mumbai – Spending the first week of a new year in Mumbai is becoming a tradition and I will always be grateful that I get to call this wonderful place home.
Pretty sure I’ve shared this picture before (it’s my favorite), but nothing embodies my happy place like a monsoon day in Mumbai. I might visit and live in the glitziest, the most beautiful cities but this one will always be the original city that doesn’t sleep, the original city of light, the original city where dreams come true. Mumbai, always and forever. ❤️ 6/365 #justmumbaithings #_soimumbai
- INDIAN STREET FOOD! – As is always the case when I visit home after a long hiatus, I am busy stuffing my face with the most delicious food on the planet for which I will never have enough thanks for.
- Cruelty-free make up. I am so so glad that makeup that nobody had to die / suffer for exists. Shout out to Colourpop for making the best stuff without harming any living beings in the process.
Until next time,
